Waiting: Yay or nay?

Wait a minute, how can waiting be the viable option? How do I keep hanging on? Why do I have to wait every time😣😫? How do you feel about waiting: yay or nay?

ā€œOh, I’d rather read a stack of papers in Quantum physics than wait actuallyā€ (disclaimer, great number of people find the field intriguing and enjoy reading publications from there, so, excuse the faint hearted like me).

At certain points, I have come to ask same questions my friend. Don’t worry, you are not the only one with such lingering questions!

When it feels like you are stuck in the dreaded loop of the in-between; the hassle of explaining a process you do not completely understand to others, becomes eminent.

How do you explain away God and His mighty works in your journey which, you belief is well underway to bystanders?

My heart goes out to those waiting on God today. This season. This situation. Yes, it looks like waiting is quite overrated, perhaps, largely underrated. People think less of you or not at all. I hear you my friend, they conclude you must either be so clueless or too patient to a fault. You must be nonchalant with your situation they say. You don’t even know the value of time like the great men of Issachar of the old times. This is an utter waste of time, efforts, emotions and whatever you are ā€œchoosingā€ to put yourself through, is totally uncalled for. In fairness, they are perplexed, with confusion written all over their faces, and, they say to you, ā€œHow can you be so indecisive and laid back?ā€. Some counsel with good intentions, hoping a little push would ignite your momentum.

Be encouraged today! Remember, we are continuously a work in progress and our journey of faith is an indication of such. Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven [Matthew 5:3]. Waiting on God is a beautiful way to stay close to Him. What we know is this, the promises of the Lord are credible, and punctuated with an appointed time. How soon or how far, we can’t say. Honestly, it is not that we intentionally shoot ourselves in the foot to prove a point (I promise…haha), it is just what it is. How do we show that we are also eager for the move, full of expectations and tired of staying too long on ā€œthis mountainā€?? How do we assure friends and people (some are genuine, I promise) questioning our convictions or choices even though we are freaking out too with all the ā€˜potential what ifs?’. We stay still however hard that is and ask for more grace to be. ā€œRight, it’s easier to say than actually being in the trenchesā€œ, I may never understand exactly how you feel, you probably don’t understand mine too, that’s fair.

Is this waiting a yay or nay? The answer is your choice dear friend. Choose a side for yourself.

But here is the truth we also know. God loves us so much that He will only answer us at the optimal time; not too early to cure our impatience and anxieties, surely not too late that our faith put us to shame. Waiting is good, it is a kind of faith workout that helps build our muscles of perseverance and long suffering. You’ll have the family you desire soon, the baby won’t take so long, the healing will come through, you will walk that stage with the degree you thought impossible, your salvation and deliverance is at the door, the answer is just one more prayer a way! There is a caveat though, Ashley Morgan Jackson said, ā€œAnd when it is finally your turn, I hope you understand what your wait was forā€. The Lord does not ever waste a waiting season, there are lessons to be learnt and a purpose for each.

How to wait…

Wait quietly,

It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of theĀ Lord. Lamentations 3:26 (NIV).

Wait patiently,

Be still before theĀ LordĀ and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Psalm 37:7 (ESV).

Wait determined,

WaitĀ for theĀ Lord; be strongĀ and take heart and wait for theĀ Lord. Psalm 27:14 (NIV).

Wait joyfully,

Be joyful in hope,Ā patient in affliction,Ā faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12 (NIV).

Wait hopefully,

Ā And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:5 (KJV).

Wait purposefully,

For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Habakuk 2:3 (ESV).

Wait to the end.

Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, Titus 2:13 (ESV).

There is joy in waiting on the Lord. This too shall pass, you’ll see!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who might be interested. God used it to bless me immensely at a certain season in my life when I thought the waiting shattered me to pieces, after all, God picked the pieces back and molded the clay to something beautiful. Let’s be excited and unapologetic in our waiting! Hang in there!
Wait on you Elevation worship and Maverick city.

Special note: Would you give your life to Jesus Christ? He is the way, the truth and the life. If yes, please pray the prayers below:

Lord Jesus, thank you for your death and resurrection for the salvation of my soul. Please forgive all my sins. I choose you today to follow and to obey. May your love and the holy spirit lead and guide my purpose for your glory. Thank you, my Lord and savior. Amen!

Grace and blessings,

Olushola.
